| Information about the maker Thornton is a rural village 4 miles West of Bradford on the B6145, on the way to Bronte Country. James Barraclough ran a shop on Market Street that sold Clocks, Jewellery as well as being the hardware shop for the village. His father was a clockmaker in nearby Haworth and made the grandfather clock that stands in the Bronte Parsonage Museum. We believe this clock was retailed c1900. James was noted as being neat and precise in person, "he was neat and precise in everything he did". |
