Description of the item
A really well executed gilded brass mantel clock. Of good size and colour, these are popular placed against similarly gilded mirrors over fireplaces. It has a very detailed case, much crisper than the cheaper 'spelter' made clocks, with floral swags, beading and foliage, all surmounted with a cameo. In excellent running order with 'sleepy' finish, which can be brightened on request.

| Information about the maker
As described below, we've not had the clock apart so we are unsure of the maker. However it is clearly French with a typical 2-train Paris movement, dating to the end of the C 19th. |

The gilding can be cleaned to a bright finish (at extra cost) if required to match a mirror with a newer finish. The movement can be cleaned and serviced but it better left a few years. |
