Description of the item This is a first for us but have decided to give it a go!
RAF sector clocks are very sought after and the market is awash with fakes and 'marriages'. A genuine fusee Sector clock with provable heritage will cost close to £3000....and you still need to be careful. A genuine dial (no case, movement, bezel or hands) made £550 on ebay recently. Other plain dials are being 'converted ' at the dials restorers. Who knows how these clocks are being described when sold?
We were recently offered a totally plain but genuine Elliott made dial clock dating from 1941. Everything apart from the dial paint is exactly the same as the genuine Sector clocks. It does look a little sad with a plain dial (which needs restoring) so we've decided to have the dial painted with sector colours and sell it as a genuine / replica clock at sensible money where the customer knows exactly what they are getting.
The clock will be a while in restoration, but can be reserved ahead of completion. If you'd like any more information e-mail us here. |
