Description of the item
An attractive Victorian Barometer is 'as-bought' condition. Happy to sell it as-is (decorative) or do a partial or full restore. It has the original, boxed mecury thermometer.

Information about the maker
There is no direct record of the maker in the books. There is however a Myers (Phillip) recorded in Nottingham until 1845. Wirksworth is only 23miles from Nottingham. S Myers was probably a relation.

Condition Report
For an item approx 150 years old the barometer is in very good condition. Is shows the usual areas of wear: The silvering on the dials is a little worn (I like it). The rosewood case is good. The veneers to the side have some bubbles but are generally complete. There are small areas of damage (missing) mother of pearl, which don't impact the general appearance of the item.
The mercury tube is dirty and needs cleaning.

Cost of Restoration
I think the barometer is best sold to someone who likes the case and dial in their current condition. That would just leave the tube to clean and refill, and to check and oil the mechanism, which could be done for approx £80.
The case could be restored and any missing mother of pearl replaced, but this route could get expensive (please enquire).
