Description of the item A very fine early 5-dial barometer of very attractive form (not to be confused with later Victorian examples). Very good mahogany veneers and 'double' (boxwood & ebony) stringing. Retaining its original ivory finial and patera to the swan-neck pediment. Fully restored to a very high standard of finish. 'Level' showing the maker's name. Hygrometer. Dimensions: Length 43"; Width 10"

| Information about the maker Vassali was at 49 Merchants Row Scarborough in 1840 and moved to number 52 from 1846 - 1858.

Condition Report The barometer has been professionally restored to an extremley good, 'as-new' condition. The tube has been cleaned and refilled with fresh mercury.
