Description of the item


A very fine early 5-dial barometer of very attractive form (not to be confused with later Victorian examples). Very good mahogany veneers and 'double' (boxwood & ebony) stringing. Retaining its original ivory finial and patera to the swan-neck pediment. Fully restored to a very high standard of finish. 'Level' showing the maker's name. Hygrometer.

Information about the maker


Vassali was at 49 Merchants Row Scarborough in 1840 and moved to number 52 from 1846 - 1858.



Condition Report


The barometer has been professionally restored to an extremley good, 'as-new' condition.
The tube has been cleaned and refilled with fresh mercury.
