Description of the item
A really impressive looking large wall clock. The dial retains all its original paint which has a great layout and has developed a mellowed yellow colour. Very original throughout, this ebonised clock would be particularly suited to a large contempary kitchen. High quality fusee movement requiring winding once a week. |

| Information about the maker
The clock was manufactured by Winterhalder & Hoffmier in Germany (very good quality) and retailed by Lloyd Payne & Amiel of Manchester. They are recorded as "Clock & Watch makers, jewellers, musical instrument dealers, opticians & importers if dining and drawing room clocks and bronzes suitable for presentation" (!). They were at Shudehill in 1869 and in Thomas St by 1888. |

Dimensions & Specification
Ebonised (black polished) mahogany or walnut case. Heavy brass bezel with silvered sight-ring retaining the original 'wavy' glass. 8-day duration chain fusee movement with tall 'A' frame plates. Semi-deadbeat escapement. 16" steel dial. Steel hands.
The overall diameter is approx 55cm diameter, 16.5 cm deep. |

| Condition Report
All the components are original. The case has been refinished to a high standard. The dial is rare in retaining all its original paint and taken-on a very attractive mellow yellow colour. Original blued-steel hands with light surface corrosion inkeeping with the dial. Movement cleaned & serviced. Polished brass bezel. |
