Description of the item An really attractive, totally original Longcase / Grandfather clock at an excellent price. Dating to c1830, the clock has been prepared to the highest standards and is ready to start its new life. Good colour (better than in the photos) and excellent patination. Guaranteed all original. | Information about the maker Robert Richards was a 'Clock, watch and movement' maker, working from the High Street in Uttoxeter (Staffordshire). The known dates are 1834 to 1844 but I think this clock was made a couple of years before that. The fact he was a movement maker is interesting, as most were buying in more 'mass' produced movements by then. A couple of other clocks signed by him are known. |

Dimensions & Specification 8 day movement, striking the hours on a bell. 14" Painted dial by W Francis of Birmingham (1808-1833). Typical 'Uttoxeter' made case - oak with mahogany banding and box wood stringing. Totally original throughout. Dims: 227cm tall. Max width 58cm. Max depth 26cm Original brass hands. |

| Condition Report Fully & professionally restored ready for sale. Dial and movement professionally overhauled. The whole clock was in good order, requiring only light restoration. Full photographic record of the clock prior to the work starting will be provided.. |

Additional Information
The dial is of excellent quality - better than normally found at this period. We've not seen the unusual painting in the arch before. It depicts a pagoda style villa. We've not been able to identify the scene. Please get in touch if you think you know where it may be.
