Description of the item
This is a super example of English Clock making at its best. Made using only the very best materials, this clock was supplied to the Road Research Laboratory at Harmondsworth. (Original label inside). Very original and a very good looking clock. Made by Stockall Marples & Co in 1933. Numbered and dated. |

| Information about the maker
Intially called JJ Stockall & Sons, the company traded from 1870-1970, becoming Stockall Marples & Co Ltd after 1912. Premises at 6-10 Clerkenwell Rd London and 64 and 64a Bridge St, Deansgate Manchester. Even later they traded as Stokmar. They supplied the railway companies as well as Government departments. |

Dimensions & Specification
Made using the very best materials. 3 piece mahogany surround. Heavy cast brass bezel and chain driven fusee movement of very substantial proportions. Plenty more details on request. Weighs-in at 7.1kg! 12" painted dial. Movement and back-box stamped as shown.
The overall diameter is approx 37.5cm diameter, 16cm deep. |

| Condition Report
Fully prepared for sale, with 'before' and 'after' photographic record. Fantastic colour and patination to the woodwork, retaining the original finish (not repolished). Dial retains the original off-white ground and blackwork. The dial had some chips (as shown on detailed photos) which have been covered. The areas of repair can be seen with close examination but are preferred to repainting the dial. The back-box has a small area of repair to the base, shown again in the photo. Movement fully serviced for sale. |
