Devon Clocks and Clockmakers by Clive N. Ponsford is a very interesting study of clockmaking in Devon based on a great deal of original research. The book covers the period from the flourishing 14th century to the opening years of last century.

There are details of more than 1,750 former makers of Devon many previously unrecorded. There are 47 illustrations and 12 figurative drawings. These include village-made clocks as well as superb examples of work by the county's finest makers.

There are chapters on the clock and watch trade, turret clocks and chimes, notable makers in Exeter, notable makers in Crediton, Totnes, Plymouth, and the rest of the county, an autobiography of Henry Ellis, list of makers in alphabetical order,and makers by town and village. There is an appendix of tools and materials of Abell cottey (1711) , a bibliography , acknowledgements and index.

The book is unmarked with dust jacket and in very good condition. It measures 16cm by 24cm.
