| Information about the maker
Edward Bell was part of an established clockmaking family from nearby Uttoxeter who set up his son (John) in business in the market town of Ashbourne. He (John) is recorded as being in Ashbourne from 1828 (when he was 23) to 1855, dying in 1875. We estimate he sold this clock c1835. |
