| Information about the maker
The 'Lansdown' on the dial doesn't refere to the area of Bath, but to the maker. We are pretty confident it is George Lansdown who worked in Bath from 1832 to 1861. We are helped further in the dating because the clock has a false-plate identifying the dial maker as Wilkes of Birmingham who opertated no later than 1853. From the style of the case it is probably earlier than that, c1840 |

| Condition Report
The case is in stunning order with excellent colour. It doesn't appear to have been restored, although it would be very rare to have survived this long without work. No signs though. The dial appears to have been repainted quite a while ago. Its colour is creamier than captured in the images, despite our best efforts! Movement fully overhauled, bezel polished, broken glass replaced correctly. |
