Clock repair & Restoration Services |
|
UPDATE!
Because we are very low on stock, we have temporarily stopped providing a repair service for the public, whilst we rebuild our own stock levels. We hope to provide the service in the future, but need to protect the sales side of the business. We are of course still happy to work on clocks supplied previously by ourselves.
We recommend Trevor Lowes at www.hrs-clocks.co.uk for repairs to movements. Unfortunately Trevor doesn't provide a call out service.

Call us out, like a plumber!
We are happy to offer a repair and restoration service around the Cheshire / Derbyshire / Manchester areas. Unlike many clock repairers, we are able to visit your home to give advice and can often effect small repairs in-situ.
For larger jobs, depending on our own workload, we can either do the repairs or restoration for you ourselves, or use the same team which help restore our own clocks. The cost is still competitive and you avoid the time and risk of searching on your own for the different experts. |

Prices
Unfortunately due to the cost of fuel and ever increasing congestion, we have had to increase our call-out charge for local jobs to £60, which we still believe is very competitive as it includes travel time, travel expenses and one hours labour at your home. We are often able to resolve problems in this time period. Any time spent over the hour is charged at £20/hour.
If the problem requires our workshop facilities, we can give advice and quotes during the call and if appropriate take your clock away for full repair (fully insured service).

Type of work available
There are not many jobs that we are unable to perform. We recently collected (in several carrier bags!) a shattered Grandfather clock that had fallen over onto a quarry tiled floor. The case needed extensive repairs and reassembly (the wood and joints are brittle after 200 years!), the movement needed straightening and the painted dial was scratched and chipped.
Available services include full overhauls of clock movements (including making any missing parts), restoration of clocks dials (painted or silvered), and the restoration on clock cases.
It should be noted nearly all of this work is very time-consuming and can become expensive. We will give you an honest explanation of how your expenditure will effect the clock's value. Although sometimes it is not 'cost effective' to restore 'modest' clocks, we are often asked to complete such works, as the items have a particular sentimental value. We are sensitive to this need and are happy complete work in those circumstances. |
