Description of the item
This is a very fine late Georgian mercury banjo barometer with a stunning 12" silvered dial. It is signed D. Fagioli & Son, Clerkenwell, London. The case is veneered in the best quality flame mahogany . Cast brass bezel with convex glass. Detachable thermometer box. 'Level' showing the maker's name. Hygrometer.

Information about the maker
There are several entries for Fagioli in the records. There is Fagioli (Dominic) and Son in partnership at 3 Gt Warner Street, Clerkenwell (our address) from 1840-51. There obviously then moved to numer 10 from 1851-54. We can therefore date this item between 1840-51, probably about 1845.




Condition Report
The barometer has been professionally restored to an extremley good, 'as-new' condition.
The tube has been cleaned and refilled with fresh mercury.
